  31. The Joint Modular Languages Conference (JMLC) deals with languages,
  32. techniques, and tools for the design and implementation of large-scale
  33. software systems in  a modular and extensible way. It is the second
  34. conference with this name and a successor of the previous European and
  35. International Modula-2 Conferences which started in 1988. JMLC is 
  36. intended
  37. as a catalyst for novel ideas from both academia and practice. The
  38. conference will include invited talks, technical papers, and tutorials.

  40. Topics for technical papers include but are not restricted to:
  41.  
  42. - Software engineering with modular languages
  43.   (Modula-2/3, Oberon, Ada, Java, etc.)
  44. - Industrial case studies
  45. - Educational issues
  46. - Programming environments and tools
  47. - Object-orientation, reusability, componentware
  48. - Safety critical and real time systems
  49. - Networked and distributed applications
  50. - Language design and implementation
  51. - Formal methods in software development

  54. Submissions

  56. Technical papers must be written in English and are restricted to 5500
  57. words including abstract and references. Full page figures count as 350

  87. Linz is located at the Danube, in the heart of Austria right between 
  88. Vienna
  89. and Salzburg. It is surrounded by the gentle hills of the Bohemian
  90. landscape to the north, and by the rising Alps and the famous 
  91. Salzkammergut
  92. with its lakes to the west. Linz is not only famous for its Ars 
  93. Electronica
  94. Festival, but also for Mozart's Linzer Symphony, for the composer Anton
  95. Bruckner, and for the astronomer Johannes Kepler.

  97. Linz has an own airport with direct flights to most cities in Germany 
  98. and
  99. Switzerland, as well as connections to all destinations worldwide with
  100. stopover in Vienna. Connections to Vienna are 2 hours by train or car.

  102. The conference will take place in the medieval castle of Hagenberg, an
  103. exclusive conference center and software park 20 km to the north of 
  104. Linz.
